That’s why, even though it’s generally recommended to buy a Suica card when arriving in Japan, we didn’t do it, since we had our Osaka Amazing Pass for the first two days.

The Osaka Amazing Pass comes in two versions, and choosing the right one depends on your travel pace.
1-Day Pass
Best for:
- Short stays in Osaka
- Travelers who don’t mind a full sightseeing day
- People who want to focus on highlights
This option works well if you plan to visit 3–4 attractions in one day and use transportation frequently.
2-Day Pass
Best for:
- Slower travelers
- People who want a more relaxed schedule
- Travelers staying centrally in Osaka
The 2-day pass spreads attractions over two days, which makes the experience feel much less rushed, plus you get to see more!
One important thing to note: the 2-day pass must be used on consecutive days.
Osaka Amazing Pass – Osaka Monorail Version Only
If you choose the Osaka Amazing Pass (Osaka Monorail version), you’ll also have access to attractions located outside Osaka’s city center, mainly in the northern area of the city.
One of the main highlights included with this version is Expo ’70 Commemorative Park, a large green space built on the site of the 1970 World Expo. The park is home to gardens, museums, and wide open areas that offer a break from the busy city atmosphere.
Another major attraction in this area is the Osaka Wheel, Japan’s tallest Ferris wheel, located next to the EXPOCITY complex. It’s known for its fully enclosed cabins and panoramic views, especially on clear days.
Distance from Osaka City Center
This area is located approximately 11 miles (18 km) north of central Osaka, so visiting it requires additional travel time compared to city-based attractions.
How to Get There
- Take the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line to Senri-Chuo Station, then transfer to the Osaka Monorail
- Alternatively, you can reach Bampaku-Kinen-Koen Station directly via the Osaka Monorail, depending on your starting point

- Want to explore beyond the city center

⚠️ Important Note
Avoid purchasing the Osaka Amazing Pass too far in advance. The pass is only valid for 90 days from the purchase date, so buying it early could reduce or even eliminate the time you’re able to use it.
Also, make sure to activate the pass only once you are in Osaka and ready to start using it. Activation happens the first time you use the pass for transportation or at an attraction, and once activated, it’s valid for that day (or consecutive days, depending on the version).

This is the big question — and the honest answer is: it depends on how you travel.
The Osaka Amazing Pass is worth it if:
- You plan to visit multiple paid attractions
- You’ll use public transportation several times a day
- You enjoy sightseeing and city views
It may not be worth it if:
- You prefer slow travel and cafés over attractions
- You plan to walk most of the time
- You’re only interested in one or two paid attractions
As a general rule, if you visit two major attractions plus use transport, the pass usually pays for itself.
How to Use the Osaka Amazing Pass
Using the Osaka Amazing Pass is straightforward, but a little planning goes a long way.
- The pass activates the first time you use it

- At most attractions, you simply show the pass at the entrance
However, it’s important to note that some attractions require you to exchange your QR code for a physical ticket. In some cases, this exchange happens right at the attraction, while in others it may be at a specific counter or location.
